The Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks to hire a non-tenure earning (NTE) assistant professor starting fall 2021. The candidate should be able to cover both traditional and online courses within both our undergraduate and graduate Master of Public Administration program, including American Government, State and Local Government, Public Policy, Public Management, Administrative Law, and Public Budgeting. The teaching load is a 4/4, or eight courses a year over two semesters. Completion of a Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Administration, or Public Policy (or a related field) is required prior to start of appointment.

 

The Department offers a B.A. in Political Science as well as a NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration degree, and plays a key role in servicing and developing programs in International Studies, Pre-Law, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Human Rights. Currently the department has approximately 130 Political Science and 70 International Studies undergraduate majors, 80 Public Administration graduate students, and 11 full-time faculty members, with anticipated growth in the next few years.
