East Tennessee State University – Mild 4 Season Climate, Situated in the Central Appalachian Highlands.

The Department of Pediatrics at East Tennessee State University, Quillen College of Medicine, located in Johnson City, TN, seeks to recruit a Division Chief of Neonatal Medicine. The Chief will provide overall leadership to the Division, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Niswonger Children’s Hospital and co-direct the Regional Perinatal Center. The Chief will oversee strategic planning, recruitment and program development, and ensure the integration of training and research programs with clinical services. The Chief will lead the division’s support of the Department of Pediatrics’ academic goals in research, education and advocacy.

 

Specific responsibilities include providing clinical care at the Niswonger 39 bed level III NICU with in-house nurse practitioners, outpatient neonatal high-risk follow-up, teaching of medical students and pediatric residents, quality improvement and academic pursuits. We have approximately 700 NICU admissions per year, with air and ground transport systems. An active perinatology division for maternal evaluation and management is also present through the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

 

The position is a joint hire with Medical Education Assistance Corporation (MEAC) and contingent on external funding. The effective start date is negotiable, provided the required licenses and certifications have been obtained at time of hire. The position is a non-tenure track position and rank will be commensurate with academic experience. Review of applicants will continue until this position is filled.
