Assistant Professor of Glass/3D Arts, Art and Design
Job Description or Duties:
The Department of Art & Design at the University of Nebraska at Kearney seeks energetic educators and collaborators to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Glass/3D Arts to start in the fall of 2020. We seek an innovative artist and educator who has both a dedicated creative practice and experience teaching furnace glass blowing coupled with other techniques and approaches in the field of three-dimensional art. In addition to teaching 3 to 4 undergraduate glass and/or sculpting classes per semester, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a safe and productive studio. This includes supervising work study students, ensuring safety measures are met, ordering necessary supplies, maintaining equipment, and completing technical repairs as necessary. This member of the department will work closely with the other 3D faculty to ensure a productive environment for all students. This position also includes service to the university by means of advising students, holding office hours, and participating in both departmental and campus-wide committees
Candidates must hold an MFA in a 3D area.
Experience with furnace glass blowing.
The strongest candidates will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to creative teaching that speaks to and motivates undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
Candidates must have the ability to engage students through a variety of three-dimensional materials and techniques such as, but not limited to woodworking, welding, carving, 3D printing and casting.
Candidates must be committed to their own professional growth through scholarship and research.
MFA in Glass
Teaching experience beyond graduate school.
Experience maintaining a glass studio.
Experience completing technical repairs.
