Professional Expert, Project Assistant-Guided Pathways and Dual Enrollment



Definition

Under direction of the Project Director, Guided Pathways & Dual Enrollment, responsible for coordinating, overseeing and participating in various operations, activities and special projects in support of Guided Pathways implementation. This will include efforts to expand pathways from high school to community college by assisting with efforts to recruit and enroll high school students in the College’s dual enrollment program. Will serve as a liaison with local high schools to answer questions, organize informational events, recruit and enroll students, and monitor student progress.

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a Professional Expert position to provide support for the Guided Pathways and Dual Enrollment Program. Outstanding communication skills and the ability to collaborate with campus staff and external partners are especially valued. Experience or skills coordinating projects across functional areas or teams is critical to success.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the Project Director, Guided Pathways & Dual Enrollment with implementation of the Guided Pathways grant.
  • Supports Guided Pathways team with scheduling, coordinating, and presenting information related to Guided Pathways and high school dual enrollment options, including general college information, to prospective students at local area high schools, community organizations, on-campus events, and other locations.
  • Provides information to students, parents and school personnel about dual enrollment-specific program eligibility, the College application process, and course registration.
  • Assists prospective students with completion of dual enrollment program forms, and offers support in assistance with other various related forms such as College application forms, fee waivers, and federal financial aid forms.
  • Evaluates dual enrollment program forms submitted by students to determine eligibility for inclusion within program regulations and guidelines and College policies and procedures.
  • Proactively contact students with incomplete or missing information to submit the necessary forms to maintain program eligibility.
  • Provides subject matter expert support to Admissions and Records staff so they can assist with researching, interpreting, clarifying, and resolving a variety of problems dealing with, but not limited to, admissions, registration, residency, student enrollment status, and fees for dually enrolled high school students.
  • Assist Project Director, Guided Pathways & Dual Enrollment with creating reports and presentations on Guided Pathways development and dual enrollment program participation to update internal and external stakeholders, including annual reports to the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the College with current and prospective students and area high schools.
  • Work with high school personnel to monitor student attendance and performance in College courses; communicate regularly with high school teachers, counselors and administrators to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Physical Demands

    Education and Experience:
    • Associate’s degree in a social or human services field or education AND
    • At least one year of experience working with student populations, preferably in a high school or community college setting.
    • Or, any combination of education and experience that would provide the required qualifications for the position.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a team, as well as being self-motivated.
    • Skilled in using Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


    Conditions of Employment

    This position will be OPEN UNTIL FILLED .

    This is a professional expert, 20-hour per week position. The District reserves the right to extend, modify, or eliminate this position based upon available funds. The normal hours of work will be arranged with the supervisor between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. However, some flexibility such as evenings and weekends may be required to meet the needs of the department. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.
    • Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.

    PE Step 15 ($19.00 per hour)
