West Virginia University School of Medicine, Departments of Pediatrics and Neurology are seeking a Division Chief for Pediatric Neurology to lead our growing division. (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor).The position will be in Morgantown, WV.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

Duties: The successful candidate will lead our Pediatric Neurology program at our expanding Children’s Hospital and will have exciting opportunities to collaborate with the WVU Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute. In addition to providing excellent patient care, he or she will manage the clinical duties and balance of responsibilities for all the child neurologists, oversee the outreach and telemedicine clinical services, oversee the programs at our new Neurodevelopmental Center, lead collaboration with our Pediatric Neurosurgery program, oversee the educational offerings for the students and residents, and mentor junior faculty members on scholarly efforts and career development. The successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a child neurology residency program, must be board certified / eligible in child neurology and have at least 5 years of experience in an academic medical center. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

WVU Hospitals maintains a Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. The Epilepsy Center includes hardwired video-EEG monitoring units for both adults and pediatrics. The facility also features neuroimaging support including spectroscopic MRI and quantitative PET scans. WVU Medicine Children’s is a regional referral center for pediatric subspecialties and provides faculty direct access to highly advanced technology and comprehensive ancillary pediatric services. Our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion will have a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The anticipated completion date is early 2021. The hospital will include 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 31 PICU beds, Heart Institute, and a dedicated Cancer Institute. WVU is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Women’s Pavilion will house a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic.
