Qualifications

The Health and Social Sciences department in the Division of Online and Professional Studies invites applications for a Full-Time Instructor in Kinesiology.

This Instructor position is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty role with a load expectation of 36 units in a 12-month period (typically 12 units per semester in Fall, Spring, Summer).

Candidates should possess a terminal degree related to the field, significant practical experience, and a verifiable history of successful online teaching. Strong candidates will demonstrate confirmation of teaching excellence, effective course curriculum planning/design, and exceptional oral and written communication skills. Faculty duties include teaching courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level and professional involvement germane to the area of specialization.

Teaching Responsibilities

This position involves primary teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate and graduate areas of Kinesiology, including, but not limited to the following areas: research and evaluation in kinesiology, research methods, applied statistics, applied exercise physiology, applied movement anatomy, fitness assessment and exercise prescription (including special populations), sports nutrition, lifelong motor development, movement experiences for children, behavioral aspects of sport, methods of teaching sports activities, and principles of conditioning athletes. In addition, prior teaching experience at the college level (preferably online) is required. Extensive experience with Blackboard LMS is preferred.

Other duties include regular course curriculum planning and assessment.

This position does not require a local (Southern California) presence.
