Position Summary:
The University of Idaho’s Department of Movement Sciences and the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences are pleased to announce the availability of a full-time 9-month tenure track assistant professor faculty position in Physical Activity Pedagogy in the Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences (ESHS) Program. A dynamic educator is sought to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in physical education methods, health methods, curriculum/program development in physical activity pedagogy, assessment, and skill theme activity classes. The faculty member will maintain a focused line of scholarly inquiry, publication and grant submission in physical activity pedagogy that is aligned with healthy active lifestyles mission of the department. Advising, service (recruitment, retention, graduate accreditation) and outreach for the ESHS Physical Education Teacher Education program, department, university, and in school/community collaborations are expected.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will provide evidence of successful: (1) PhD/EdD (or successful degree completion by August 2021) in Physical Education Teacher Education or Physical Activity Pedagogy or closely related field, (2) K-12 physical education teaching, (3) university teaching in 2 or more areas of the following coursework: P.E. Methods, Health Methods, Measurement and Evaluation, Curriculum Development, Skill Theme activity classes, (4) school/outreach collaborations, and (5) potential for scholarly productivity in physical activity pedagogy aligned with healthy active lifestyles.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to required qualifications, we are interested in candidates who have evidence of: (1) integration of technology for in-class, field-based, and on-line instruction; (2) development of coursework (online and face to face) for graduate and undergraduate programs; (3) elementary/middle school physical education teaching; (4) knowledge of CAEP accreditation and standards and procedures; (5) experiences in supporting diverse and sustainable healthy active communities; and (6) positive collegial relationships.
