JOB TITLE: Assistant Professor in Special Education

DEPARTMENT: Teaching Learning & Leadership (TLL)

JOB DETAILS

University of Wisconsin-Stout School of Education seeks an emerging or established scholar with expertise to fill a tenure-track position in Special Education at the Assistant level. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative and supportive environment to maintain an active research agenda, including the pursuit of external funding. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses (face-to-face and online), including teacher preparation, supervise students and be involved in course and program assessment of student learning.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Doctorate or currently enrolled in a doctoral program in Special Education or a closely related field with completion of doctorate one year from contract start date
  • Graduate degree in Special Education or closely related field
  • 3 years of full-time teaching experience within the PK-12 schools
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collegial and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Interest in advancing student learning in the area of Special Education  

Preferred:

  • Doctorate or ABD in Special Education or closely related field
  • Certifiable/Licensable in Special Education
  • Teaching experience in Special Education within the US PK-12 Schools
  • A history of leadership, scholarly publications, and service in higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to teach using distance education strategies via different formats (synchronous & asynchronous online, hybrid)
