The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Public Health Sciences

 

Position Description

The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago is accepting applications for a full-time appointee.  Rank and term will be commensurate with qualifications. The appointee will play a key role in the development and instruction of the University’s new Master of Public Health (MPH) program, launching in fall 2021, and be responsible for developing a core sequence of courses that includes: (a) foundations and fundamentals of public health; (b) planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs; and (c) health communication. In addition, the appointee will also be responsible for organizing and supporting the MPH practicum experience and capstone project, including teaching sessions on topics such as literature reviews, writing, and presenting. The appointee will also coordinate advising for students in the program and identifying practicum placements.  The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a PhD, DrPH, or equivalent degree in public health or a related field, and 2) have served as the primary instructor for an undergraduate or graduate course.  We prefer applicants with experience in public health practice and who can begin on or around 1 July 2021.
