Coordinator for Education Partnerships and Clinical Practice

Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a Coordinator for Education Partnerships and Clinical Practice. The incumbent will be responsible for building and maintaining education partnerships with school districts, the coordination of course-related fieldwork and student teaching placements for teacher candidates in the Educator Preparation Program (EPP), and teaching assigned courses in the EPP.

Primary responsibilities include:

A. Establish and maintain education-related community partnerships:

• Meet with school district administrators (virtually or at prospective site locations when viable) to discuss potential partnership work that would meet mutually agreed upon college and P-12 school needs.
• Collaborate with area school district personnel to facilitate Utica College education students completion of New York State Education Department (NYSED) required fieldwork and student teaching.
• Attend Education Consortium and/or Advisory meetings to support experiential learning.
• Attend monthly virtual cicu education meetings with the Chair of Utica College’s EPP.
• Participate on standing or ad hoc committees, special events and, representation of the College and its programs to the larger community.

B. Coordinate the delivery of Clinical Practice, specifically as it relates to pre-student teaching fieldwork and student teaching:

• Pre-Student Teaching Fieldwork Coordination:
• Ensure NYSED regulations surrounding pre-student teaching fieldwork hours are being met by Utica College’s EPP. This should be done in consultation with the EPP department chair.
• Identify fieldwork needs each semester by identifying courses that require fieldwork and students who need placements.
• Identify school districts that are geographically located around the radius of Utica College, that represent suburban, rural and urban schools, and who are willing to be “Partner Schools” for pre-student teaching field placements.
• Collaborate with EPP faculty for the appropriate fieldwork placement to achieve a variety of settings that meet program requirements and recommended practice.
• Contact “Partner Schools” each semester and secure pre-student teaching field placements that align with NYSED regulations and student certification areas.
• Notify adjuncts and faculty about ATLAS as an alternate to field placement if appropriate and consistent with NYSED guidance (this will need to be reviewed each semester).
• Ensure documentation has been completed for pre-student teaching field placements.
• Meet with individual students as needed to address fieldwork questions.
• Respond to district complaints about field placement issues.

Student Teaching Coordination:
• Ensure NYSED regulations surrounding student teaching are being met by Utica College’s EPP. This should be done in consultation with the EPP department chair.
• Collaborate with EPP faculty to ensure programs meet student teaching requirements and NYSED certification requirements.
• Collaborate with EPP faculty to determine readiness for student teaching.
• Determine student placements for teacher candidates based on certification area(s).
• Recruit and develop prospective college supervisors.
• Establish reliable and valid student teaching evaluation procedures.
• Conduct College Supervisor Orientation meetings in cooperation with the EPP faculty prior to start of each semester.
• Conduct Student Teaching Orientation for cooperating teachers, college supervisors, and student teachers in cooperation the EPP faculty prior to the start of each semester.
• Oversee the distribution of materials to cooperating teachers, college supervisors, and student teachers for successful student teaching experiences.
• Oversee the supervision of student teachers by college supervisors; review students’ evaluations of supervisors; review complaints received by students or cooperating teachers and meet with college supervisors as needed.
• Oversee the completion of supervision documentation (e.g. principal memos, observation forms, Student Teaching Internship Evaluation Forms) and enter data into a format appropriate for accreditation.
• Assume role of the EPP-designated edTPA Coordinator in cooperation with department chair and EPP faculty.
• Meet with Department Chair, faculty advisor, College Supervisor, student teacher, and/or mentor teachers to discuss disciplinary action or remediation plans when necessary.
• Oversee recommendations to the education department chair to update the Student Teaching Handbook prior to each semester.
• Oversee the matching of supervisors with student teachers by certification area and school district placements.

C. Teaching:

• Teach 6 credits a year, and collaborate with the instructors of EDU 471/671: Student Teaching Seminar on curriculum and edtpa requirements.


•Hold regular office hours.
•Ensure College LiveText is up-to-date each semester.
•Manage the collection and reporting of assessment and accreditation data related to student teaching and NYS teach certification as requested by the Chair of the EDU department and EPP faculty.
•Participate in all regular departmental activities, including curriculum development, assessment, planning, publicity and other related duties.
•Other duties as assigned.
•May require travel to locations for the development of appropriate partnerships and placements in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison Counties. May include attendance at national and regional conferences in support of program goals.


• New York State teacher certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited program; Master’s degree in Education preferred.
• At least five years’ experience teaching in public P-12 schools preferred.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with P-12 schools and staff in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison Counties preferred.
• Familiarity with NYS teacher certification requirements preferred.
• Experience in higher education, educator preparation preferred.• Experience with national accreditation requirements preferred.
