Position Summary:

The research specialist will work within the lab of Dr. Barbara Bendlin and under the supervision of the program manager, Nancy Davenport-Sis. The Bendlin Lab is currently running 7 studies and the successful candidate will collect data using PET, MR and other biomarker procedures and questionnaires.

The person in this position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of The Synapse Project and will also serve as backup to the other research coordinators managing studies in the Bendlin Lab. The research specialist will communicate regularly with the program manager, PI, and the research participants. The successful candidate will be meticulous with documentation. Participants will be cognitively healthy, or have a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Degree in social, biological, health sciences, or a related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

- At least one year of experience leading and/or managing human research or clinical trials

- Experience working with an IRB for protocol approval, edits, etc.
- Experience with biomarker research data collection (PET, MR imaging, blood) and data entry into a research database
- Experience working with protected health information and familiarity with HIPAA

Additional Information:

Successful candidates must have:
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
- Understanding of safety compliance related to collection of research data.
- Proficiency in the use of Excel, Word and video-conferencing tools.

Candidates must be comfortable with working remotely to perform duties that do not need to be completed on-site or in-person.

Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
