General summary:

Walden University is looking for an experienced and detail oriented Quality Assurance Engineer possessing excellent written and oral communication skills who will oversee the quality assurance lifecycle of development projects from inception to implementation. As a member of our software engineering team the Engineer will be responsible for developing standards and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness, drive innovation and streamline overall testing processes, create test plans and perform manual & automated testing. The ideal candidate is familiar with configuration management best practices and agile development cycles.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Create and implement a strategy for quality management and testing
  • Suggest solutions to identified product problems
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Design, develop and execute automation scripts
  • Test current products and identifying deficiencies
  • Identify quality assurance process bottleneck and suggest actions for improvement
  • Oversee continuous improvement projects
  • Monitor debugging process results
  • Investigate the causes of non-conforming software
  • Identify key KPIs for product quality
  • Collect and track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts


  • Knowledge Skills And Abilities Required:

  • 3+ years software quality assurance testing and/or development experience
  • 2+ years creating and executing automated & manual test plans and test scripts
  • 2+ years web based testing
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills including effective oral and written communication
  • Communicating product readiness, level of quality, and results to the project team
  • Proven ability to review specifications and documentation
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of the QA role, and all areas of application testing
  • Strong XML, HTML and SQL experience (Oracle preferred)
  • Capacity for attending to details
  • Ideal candidates will have:
  • Bachelors with emphasis on CS, or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and testing Web Services
  • Strong Windows background with some Unix
  • Experience with defect tracking systems and other software life cycle management tools
  • Experience with Azure DevOps



  • Willingness to work core US business hours (9am ET – 4pm ET)
  • Experience working in an agile-dev environment/structure
  • Experience with SaFE is a plus
  • Experience with Higher Education is a plus
