Job Description

The Florida NextGen Test Bed (FTB) in Daytona Beach, Florida, managed by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, provides a lab environment for government, industry, and academia research to design, develop, demonstrate and validate NextGen concepts and systems. This complex enterprise is constructed to support the FAA’s NextGen program to modernize the National Airspace System (NAS).

The Systems Engineer will assist with systems-related activities within the facility. This individual will support enterprise-level architecture design, engineering, implementation, and operations. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting processes needed to maintain a highly complex and dynamic technical environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or completion of program of 18+ months after high school. Area of study: Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of work related experience.
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
  • Familiarity with National Airspace Systems (NAS) systems and software
  • General understanding of network protocols and networking devices
  • Understanding of data storage technologies, data structures, and common audio-visual systems
  • Experience using or configuring Linux systems
  • Works well individually or in a group setting
  • Effectively collaborates with and monitors subcontractors
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Successfully presents technical information


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in National Airspace System (NAS) technologies and/or operations
  • Experience with FAA NextGen programs
  • Experience with software development/programming
  • Experience with simulation software
