Faculty Positions in Biochemistry and Instructor of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at High Point University invites applications for a tenure-track position in biochemistry at the Assistant Professor rank and a non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor with a start date of August 2021. Teaching responsibilities for the biochemistry position will include introductory and specialty courses in biochemistry and chemical biology as well as introductory courses in chemistry and general education courses for non-science majors. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to develop an active research program involving undergraduates. Preference will be given for candidates with training in protein biochemistry to complement the expertise of our current faculty. Teaching responsibilities for the instructor position will be to teach foundation lecture and laboratory courses. The department supports B.S. degree programs in chemistry and biochemistry with a significant number of students preparing for careers in the health professions. Successful applicants will have access to professional development funds, state of the art instrumentation, and office space in the newly completed Wanek School of Natural Sciences. A Ph.D. in biochemistry or closely-related field is required and postdoctoral experience is preferred for the biochemistry position. An advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry or closely-related field is required and a PhD is preferred for the instructor position.
