Resources Management Librarian, Librarian Assistant Professor, Library System

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track Librarian Assistant Professor faculty position, beginning July 1, 2021.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Librarianship (85 %)

 

  • Collaborate with members of the Collection Development Unit to support unit projects and goals.
  • Lead or assist with Collection Development training sessions for selectors.
  • Assist the Director of Collection Development with revising the KSU Library System Collection Development Policy by the established deadline.
  • Participate in collection assessment and weeding projects as needed.
  • Evaluate usage statistics to assess the KSU Library System’s electronic resources subscriptions for renewal and cancellation recommendations and to provide collection data and analysis for Selectors.
  • Coordinate workflows for electronic resource management, in collaboration with the Director of Collection Development, Library Resources Librarians, and Selectors.
  • Serve as an undergraduate faculty liaison. Perform subject specific professional work including faculty outreach and collection development.
  • Provide research assistance (in person, via chat, or other communication modes) to students and other members of the KSU community.

 

Service (10%)

 

  • Engage in KSU Library System service, KSU University service, and/or service to the library profession.

 

Scholarship (5%)

 

  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

 

Required qualifications include:

 

  • An earned Master’s in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program, or the foreign equivalent, is required.
  • Aptitude to meet library faculty standards for job performance, scholarship, service, and professional development at the Library Assistant Professor rank.
  • Experience in libraries or customer service-oriented role.

 

Preferred qualifications include:

 

  • Evidence of working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community.
  • Experience working with electronic resources.
  • Experience with cost per use analysis.
  • Project management experience.
  • Evidence of strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with collection assessment.
  • Vendor relations experience.
  • Knowledge of contemporary library databases and vendors.
