    Program Director - Our Bodies Ourselves Today

    Who we are
    Our Bodies Ourselves Today is building a world-class online platform that will provide women and girls, trans men, and nonbinary folks from all backgrounds with the most up-to-date, trustworthy, and inclusive information about our health, sexuality, and well-being.

    We plan to launch in 2021 with these core content areas:
    Childbirth | Heart Health | Menarche to Menopause | Sexuality | Abortion & Contraception | Gender-Based Violence | Mental Health | Aging Well

    In each area, our experts will combine the most current fact- and science-based information with personal stories, all in an intersectional feminist political context. We are committed to addressing the needs and voicing the perspectives of women and girls across race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, age, ability, nationality, legal or immigration status, gender, belief, and all other distinctions.

    Who you are

    We’re seeking a dynamic candidate to become our first Program Director. You have a passion for women’s health communication and are excited about building a powerful feminist resource in a social justice-oriented environment. You are highly competent, with the ability to see the big picture while paying attention to important details. You have experience building relationships with key stakeholders.

    Responsibilities
    The Our Bodies Ourselves Today Program Director will report to the Director of the Center for Women’s Health and Human Rights at Suffolk University, where the program is housed. They will be responsible for the daily operations of Our Bodies Ourselves Today, including but not limited to:

    ● Planning and convening quarterly meetings of the OBOS Today Leadership Council, and working with the LC between meetings to maximize their potential contributions to the project
    ● Coordinating with our lead experts in each content area to ensure that the content on our site is always the most current, reliable, and relevant information available
    ● Spearheading, executing, and supervising ongoing communications and outreach efforts, to ensure that as many people as possible have the access they need to OBOS Today
    ● Developing and executing new initiatives that expand access to women’s health information and activism
    ● Supporting fundraising efforts
    ● Preparing and maintaining project budgets
    ● Supervising volunteers, interns, work-study students, and staff who work on the project

    In addition to these ongoing responsibilities, our first Program Director will have the special responsibility of overseeing the launch of the new Our Bodies Ourselves Today, slated for fall/winter 2021. This work will include helping to hire, and working closely with, our web developer, creating and executing a communications plan for launch, hiring expert leads for each core content area, and working with them to bring on other leaders in their field to curate the content for our site launch, and more duties to be identified.

    Skills and qualifications

    At a minimum, you will have:
    ● Project management:
    ○ Between 5 - 10 years of project management and/or program director experience.
    ○ Ability to be decisive & strategic in prioritizing.
    ○ Demonstrated ability to handle, keep track of, and follow-through on multiple projects.
    ● People management:
    ○ Proven ability to build, support, and develop a team, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and managerial skills.
    ○ Demonstrated success developing the skills and leadership of staff and volunteers.
    ○ Proven ability to work well across differences.
    ● Communications:
    ○ Written communications skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information for lay audiences, write reports and white papers, blogs, website content, and commentary.
    ○ Excellent verbal communication skills.
    ○ Proven leadership in the feminist health communication space or related spaces.
    ● Training and background:
    ○ Knowledge of the field of women’s health
    ○ Demonstrated ability to integrate racial and gender justice and power structure analysis into personal practice, campaign/project development and execution, engagement with members, and in managing a staff team.
    ○ Graduate degree, or comparable experience in a field such as public health, health communication, public policy/administration, sociology, political science, community advocacy, women’s and/or gender studies, or public health education.

    Ideally, you will have:
    ● Knowledge of or personal experience with the legacy of Our Bodies Ourselves
    ● Experience developing the communications plan for launching a website
    ● Grant writing experience
    ● Demonstrated global perspective

    Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000 plus full benefits

    Although the job will start remotely due to the pandemic, the Program Director will be expected to come to the office once it’s safe (summer or fall of 2021, we hope). Therefore, applicants will need to live in the Boston area. Even when we’re working in person, however, hours will be flexible and working from home will be possible part of the time.
