Position Summary:

The Health Informatics and Information Manager leads the operational and personnel activities of the Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) team at University Health Services (UHS). The HIIM team's mission is to provide HIM, EHR, and other healthcare application support for all medical, mental health, and occupational health services. This position assures application of creative problem-solving and system improvements that include the effective use of technology to meet business outcomes. The role will also serve as the UHS Privacy Officer, as required by UW-Madison.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM), Information Technology, or related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of experience in healthcare, specifically ambulatory care
Minimum of 5 years of supervising individuals or managing a program
Demonstrated outstanding customer service
Ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate and communicate effectively with a variety of professionals
Ability to effectively motivate a team to meet departmental and organizational goals
Knowledge of regulatory, federal, and state laws governing health care records, privacy, security, and confidentiality
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, information systems, and healthcare applications, preferably Point and Click Solutions (PnC).

Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a CAHIIM accredited program leading to a HIT Certificate; RHIT, RHIA highly preferred
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and disease processes enough to clearly understand the content of health care records, understand the information needs of care providers, and to translate these needs into operational systems
Experience or knowledge of project management concepts
Technical documentation skills and basic competence in MS Word and Excel
Familiarity with healthcare data integrations (i.e. HL7 interfaces, SFTP)
Knowledge of technical training techniques and methodologies
