Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is one of the oldest, largest, and most productive university-based education research centers in the world. Under the direction of Courtney Bell, WCER provides a dynamic environment where some of the country's leading scholars conduct basic and applied education research. The WCER portfolio includes research centers and projects that investigate a variety of topics in education. The values that the work and people of WCER strive to uphold are: Innovation and Excellence, Equitable Education, Affirming and Increasing Diversity, Healthy Workplace, and Partnering Across Differences. More information about WCER values is online at https://wcer.wisc.edu/about/

Because inequities in the field of education disproportionately harm the most marginalized members of our society - including people of color, people from poor and working-class backgrounds, people with disabilities, women, and LGBTQ people, we believe that these communities must be centered in the work of our center. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized groups.

The Executive Assistant provides specialized administrative support to the Director and Deputy Director of WCER. This position requires superior customer service, willingness to learn, enthusiasm, technological skills, discretion, and strong attention to detail and accuracy. The incumbent must have excellent judgement; be extremely organized, efficient, self-directed; and be able to work independently as well as with teams. This individual will work with a diverse community of internal and external stakeholders, and will be a key part of creating a welcoming presence for all as the first point of contact for the WCER Director's Office.

The WCER Director is responsible for and involved in management decisions and strategies that affect employees in the School of Education and WCER. The person in this position is privy to sensitive and confidential materials, information, and discussions directly related to these areas. As such, excellent discretion and judgement with regard to sensitive and confidential information is central to success in this position.
