Weeks per fiscal year : Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May)

Position Description and Duties : Harper College's Manufacturing program offers students advanced training and credential opportunities as well as transferable college credits. Our state-of-the-art equipment, labs and classroom facilities allow faculty to teach students using the latest technology in the field. Program faculty network, develop and maintain close partnerships with surrounding businesses so that paid internship and employment opportunities are available for our students. In its third year, the program is growing which means there is a need for an experienced professional who can share their knowledge and enthusiasm with our students.

As a Full-time Tenure Track Manufacturing Technology instructor, the successful candidate will teach courses in Precision Machining. Teaching in both the classroom and laboratory settings, the successful candidate will use a combination ofhands-ondemonstrations along with classroom/online lectures to teach students machine tool theory and safety as well as a variety of technical assignments and laboratory instruction that will prepare the students to enter today’s manufacturing workforce.

This candidate will be experienced and be comfortable teaching theory and methods in conventional (manual) machine tool operation, blueprint reading/engineering drawings, precision (and non-precision) measuring tools, set-up, programming and operation of CNC Lathes and Mills, knowledge of 3D modeling and operation of CAD/CAM software. Additive manufacturing knowledge and welding/fabrication knowledge is a plus. The faculty member will demonstrate procedures and prepare students for possible NIMS and other industry-related certifications.

Experience with online/blended teaching and willingness to learn a Learning Management System (LMS) for documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of educational/training courses preferred. Experience working with adult learners.

The faculty member will maintain the highest possible standards of classroom and laboratory instruction; apply innovative teaching and learning pedagogies and keep abreast of new information and developments in manufacturing. The faculty member is expected to conduct assigned classes/labs, develop lessons and applicable assignments to meet learning objectives of class, provide a syllabus for each class, and use learning assessments to improve student learning.

Service on college committees and participation in departmental and divisional initiatives is required. Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May)

Educational Requirements : Associate's degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Note: Relevant work-related experience in the field or profession, certifications and/or licensures may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor Degree educational preference.

Experience Requirements : Must have significant documented work experience in the field to include competencies, skills, and knowledge in Precision Machining and have the ability to teach a variety of manufacturing courses.
