Assistant Professor of Music
Tenure-Track Position
Position Description: The Department of Music at Lander University
seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as
Assistant Professor of Music, beginning August 15, 2021. We seek
candidates to teach our music history sequence for majors, general
education courses with broad appeal (“History of Rock ‘n’ Roll” and
other courses such as “History of American Musical Theater,”
“History of the Blues,” and “Music and Film”), a capstone course in
professional practices, and applied lessons and ensembles in
percussion, piano, or wind instruments. The candidate will also
actively engage in departmental, institutional, and professional
service, student advising, and scholarly or creative
activities.
We seek a dynamic faculty member with a commitment to teaching excellence who can help recruit students to our music programs and offer stimulating general education courses for non-majors. As such, we have left the specific area of performance open.
Lander University is proud to be NASM accredited. The Department of Music offers a B.S. in Music with an Instrumental, Keyboard, or Voice Emphasis; and a B.S. in Music with an emphasis in K-12 Teacher Certification.
Required: Earned doctorate in percussion, piano, or wind instrument with music history training and expertise. Special consideration will be given to candidates with training and experience in music education and/or music technology.
Application Materials: Review of applications begins March 15, 2021, and will continue until the position is filled.
