Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Coordinator for Leadership Programs and Community Engagement reports to the Assistant Director for Leadership Programs and Community Engagement of the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement and is responsible for the following duties:
•Work with the Assistant Director for Leadership Development Programs to create and implement leadership development opportunities that align with Emotionally Intelligent Leadership and the Social Change Model of Leadership, along with other leadership development and community engagement philosophies. This includes but is not limited to the development and facilitation of workshops, creating professional development sessions for student leaders, and engaging students in meaningful community engagement experiences.
•Recruit, select, train, advise, develop, and evaluate student leaders that facilitate leadership programs and community engagement experiences
•Collaboratively plan, implement, and assess large scale leadership and community engagement programs, including but not limited to: the Immersive Community Engagement (Break) Trip program, ELEVATE Leadership Summit, and Signature Service with the Director and Assistant Director
•Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop custom leadership trainings, workshops, and experiences for students
•Collaborate with nonprofit and community agencies to provide awareness of issues and cultivate, market, and assess experiential learning and service opportunities for students
•Works with Assistant Director and Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life to counsel the 30+ chapters with regard to leadership development opportunities and community engagement strategies for chapters
•Collaborate with Student Affairs staff and OIDI staff to provide training to students, student leaders and student staff on competencies related to diversity, equity and inclusion
•Lead coordinator for all aspects of volunteer recruitment, organization, training and assignments for new student move-in(s)
•Serve on division and university committees as assigned by the Director or Dean
•Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

•A Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, or related field
•Candidates that possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the willingness to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations and as a team
•Candidates who demonstrate a theoretical foundation in the principles and practices of both leadership and community engagement
•In addition, candidates that possess program planning and development skills with a minimum of one to three years of relevant experience in a higher education or related setting
