Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The College of Health Professions invites applicants to apply to the position of Director of Procurement. This position will be responsible for the following:

• The application of comprehensive knowledge of procurement/business operations to the direct procurement or supervision of procurement for a range of goods and services on behalf of the College of Health Professions ( CHP ).

• Providing fiscal and administrative support to the CHP by monitoring and reconciling financial activities in the CHP’s centralized Business Office, ensuring that accurate and up-to- date information is maintained and available for the effective management of financial resources in the College.

• Providing an accurate accounting of funds and facilitating requests for procurement, payment and payroll activities.

• Developing and recommending policies to the Chairs, faculty and staff to manage CHP accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, financial reporting, and account reconciliation.

Minimum Hiring Standards

• Self-directed and able to work well without direct supervision, using appropriate, independent judgement when necessary

• Able to meet deadlines, multi-task, and determine priorities

• Able to communicate effectively with internal and external constituencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of principles of procurement, management, and accounting

• Able to engage in discussions of a confidential nature and to honor confidentiality related to financial issues

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with accuracy

• Logical decision-making and sound problem solving skills

• Ability to identify options and develop solutions for unique situations

• Ability to use sound judgement and resourcefulness in identifying issues and/or areas that should be addressed differently

• Several years of procurement/fiscal experience in a University or educational setting

• Knowledge of computer software to include Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Hiring Standards

• Bachelor’s degree

• Knowledge of VCU Procurement, Travel and Banner systems

Required Licenses/ Certifications Anticipated Hiring Range $61,000 - $75,000 Application Process/Additional Information
