In accordance with the College of Education’s commitment to Learn, Challenge, Empower and Transform, Doane University seeks to fill an open position of assistant professor of education (tenure-track), or assistant professor of practice (non-tenure track) with an emphasis in research methodology and emerging education specializations. 

Primary responsibilities for this 12-month faculty position include teaching and advising in the growing Master of Education in School Counseling Program. Doane University’s School Counseling program is offered both in-person and online. Other responsibilities will include supervising school counseling internships and teaching doctoral level research methods courses in Doane’s Doctorate of Education program. This position offers flexibility for innovative program expansion and engagement in scholarship  based on an individual candidate’s intellectual curiosity and strengths. Doane faculty enjoy teaching courses with an average 12:1 student/teacher ratio and develop programs that build connections with students at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Doane University includes campuses in Crete, Lincoln, and Omaha, Nebraska. This position will be primarily based on the Lincoln campus, as well as the teaching of courses at the Omaha campus and online. Some courses meet on weekends and evenings. 

Terminal degree in Education, School Counseling, or a related field is required for tenure track position, ABD considered. Candidates should have at least 5 years of school counseling experience and be eligible for or have held a Nebraska school counseling certification.  Familiarity with the ASCA comprehensive school counseling framework is preferred. Higher education teaching and dissertation advising experience preferred. Candidates with experience working with diverse populations, urban education, global education and adult learners are also preferred.
