Position Introduction: The Department of Health and Human Performance at Roanoke College invites applicants to fill a nine-month, Visiting Assistant Professor position in Health and Exercise Science. The appointment begins August 2021. The department is located in the Cregger Center, a state-of-the-art facility with exceptional research and classroom space. In 2018, Health and Exercise Science restructured its entire curriculum. It includes a diverse range of core and elective courses that address many professional and post-graduate interests.
Duties and Responsibilities: Expectations include teaching across a broad spectrum of courses in the major and supporting the general education curriculum of the College. Courses in the major will include Motor Control & Learning and Research Methods. In general education, it will include Fitness for Life. Based on expertise, other courses may include Biomechanics, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, or laboratory experiences. Teaching load is seven courses per year, generally divided 3 to 4 or 4 to 3 across semesters. Candidates will have an active research agenda, possess a strong desire to involve undergraduates in research activities, and be willing to support the values and mission of a liberal arts education.
Qualifications: Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field, and evidence of, or the potential for, excellent teaching at the collegiate - level.
