Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), part of the Florida College System, is a public college in Jacksonville, Florida. Founded in 1965, FSCJ, then known as Florida Junior College (FJC), opened its doors during the height of the nation’s community college movement to proudly serve the Northeast Florida region as the first public, postsecondary educational institution in Duval or Nassau County to exist on an integrated basis.  From an initial enrollment of 2,610 students in Fall 1966 to the current enrollment of over 45,000 students, the College has grown to offer 13 bachelor’s degrees, 45 associate degrees and more than 100 technical certificates and workforce certifications.

Reporting to Dr. John Avendano, College President, the Vice President of Finance and Administration leads, plans, organizes, and directs operations in the areas of: financial services, budget planning and execution, cash management and portfolio management, facilities management and construction, human resource management, payroll, risk management for staff and students, information technology systems, purchasing, and public safety and security. The division consists of approximately 400 employees. The Vice President of Finance and Administration’s division supports and advances the mission of the College by providing excellent stewardship of human, physical, and fiscal resources.

FSCJ seeks a Vice President of Finance and Administration who is an experienced and successful leader to be responsible for developing standards, policies and procedures relating to each designated business area, working strategically to ensure continuous improvement, efficiency and cost-effective operations of all college business functions. The Vice President of Finance and Administration serves as the Chief Financial Officer and is a member of the President’s senior leadership team in support of all areas of fiscal and administrative services, and is an active participant in shaping and advancing the priorities of the College. Overseeing a Collegewide budget of $135 million, the Vice President of Finance and Administration must be comfortable working transparently in partnership with the President, other administrative leaders, staff, faculty, and members of the Board of Trustees in an environment that utilizes, respects, and values shared governance and collaboration.

The new Vice President will be an effective and innovative leader, natural collaborator and communicator, and an accomplished leader of people, processes, projects, and systems. The ideal candidate will have related professional financial and/or administrative experience that demonstrates progressive responsibility and evidence of strategic leadership. At a minimum the ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in either Business Administration, Finance or Higher Education Administration from a regionally accredited institution and ten (10) years of related experience.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive base salary and an excellent benefits package that includes affordable health, dental and vision insurance plans, participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS), College provided term life insurance and long-term disability (LTD) coverage, a generous leave package, as well as many other benefits.
