Job Summary/Basic Function

The Canino School of Engineering Technology at SUNY Canton invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Mechatronics starting Fall 2021 semester. Intended rank is Assistant Professor other ranks considered.

Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job

The successful candidate will teach and advise students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology A.A.S. and B.Tech. programs and in the Mechatronics Technology, B.S. program. The position will serve the needs of multiple programs, with machine design, instrumentation and controls, and robotics as the fundamental focus, but expertise in CNC, fluid mechanics, and fluid power will also receive consideration. Classes may be face-to-face or online and include lectures and labs in the related discipline. Other responsibilities include the recruitment and retention of students, participation in program/course development and the formal assessment of student learning, development of a program of scholarship, and involvement in faculty committees and other campus service.
The position will serve the needs of multiple programs, with machine design, instrumentation and controls, and robotics being a fundamental focus. Other areas of possibilities include CNC, fluid mechanics, and fluid power. Most classes include lectures and labs in the related discipline.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications

A doctoral degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution. A professional engineering license. Strong skills in engineering applications, a demonstrated work history in engineering-related jobs.
