Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU’s Facilities Management is seeking to hire a Parking Facility Operations Controller for their Parking and Transportation unit. This position serves as the primary contact for students, staff, and faculty when calling the university’s Facility operations communication center.

Provides effective and courteous service via phone, intercom, radio, email, and in-person to patrons.

Provides accurate information professionally to all patrons and associates to ensure efficient services and support.

Responsible for reviewing and notating accounts, inquiries via camera records, operational systems and responds to customer concerns, complaints, and inquiries and employs effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Performs searches and notates accounts of request and inquiries for accountability, activity and tracking of any or all issues regarding all patrons and access to our facilities.

Ensures compliance with University, state, and federal policies and that all Operations’ services are delivered efficiently, reliably, and with service excellence to the VCU and VCU Health System communities.

Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor in a timely manner and within designated deadline. Will go into field, raising gates, blocking lanes, doing block-offs, & other minor field work during overnights as determined by management. Report issues to management and ensure effective and immediate communication between units and departments within the organization.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Must possess a valid VA driver’s license and have a driving record that meets the university’s driving requirements.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Customer Service experience required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with both internal and external customers.

Ability to learn T2Flex software and operational systems.

Communicating with sufficient clarity to be understood by others on the telephone, radio, email, or in-person.

Possessing the ability to handle multiple incidents simultaneously, set priorities and function well under stress.

Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude are required.

Must be MS Office proficient and Google Docs knowledgeable, able to operate a multi-line telephone.

Ability to resolve escalated customer driven issues.

Possessing intermediate level typing skills. Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

Must be able to work varied shifts and days; holidays and weekends required.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

Having knowledge of PTS’s polices & procedures helpful
Considerable knowledge of VCU’s mission helpful
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel
