Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU Administrative Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Banner Applications Analyst to join our team!

The Applications Analyst role provides career tracks for systems analysts, systems developers, and database analysts. Responsibilities may include: analyze user system and application needs to determine alternative solutions and best IT practice solution; consult with user to determine workflow, output needs, overall system requirements, and document purpose; develop specifications and requirements to purchase software; troubleshoot and resolve software problems; design fully integrated systems; develop program specifications; serve a software vendor liaison. Database responsibilities: design database (DB) systems and programs; monitor DB security, standards and procedures; ensure data integrity; maintain DB archives; develop policies and procedures; resolve, debug, and test DB systems and structures.

Minimum Hiring Standards

•.Demonstrated knowledge of systems analysis and ability to define and develop solutions to meet user requirements and resolve problems.
•Working knowledge of the following: SQL PLUS, PL/ SQL, SQL Loader, SAS, Shell Scripting, Pro Cobol, Pro C, Java along with the general knowledge of data retrieval software( TOAD ).
•Working knowledge of relational database management systems. Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
•Working knowledge of Google Workspace(G Suite), Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. •Working knowledge of linux and web tool sets (html, CSS ). Knowledgeable of administrative systems and processes.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Hiring Standards

• Prefer Bachelor/Associate degree in related field or Certificate in Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline.
• Experience in an information technology position preferred.
