Job Summary
Designs, implements and supports the full lifecycle of high-performance systems, software, services and solutions in support of data science initiatives in both academic programs and research.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for designing and implementing the full lifecycle of data science tools and data analytics platforms in support of analytic data warehouse, academic programs and research, ensuring quality, security, stability, integrity and recoverability
2. Contributes to building data models for analytical purposes
3. Designs, builds and maintains tools that automate common tasks that serve both technical support staff and data scientists
4. Provides tools, guidance and assistance to students and faculty to help them effectively manage their code and data
5. Diagnoses and resolves complex problems spanning multiple systems
6. Manages SAS 9.4, Viya, Tableau and other designated environments
7. Develops and maintains documentation of systems, services, processes, and procedures
8. Works closely with infrastructure engineers to plan and design infrastructure for the delivery of data analytics services, along with ensuring the security and integrity of systems, software and data
9. Works with stakeholders and security professionals to securely transfer, transform and manage data
10. Assists in supporting students, faculty and staff on the use of data analytics systems and tools as necessary
11. Mentors and provides support to staff
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Computer Science, Information Systems, a science or engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Required Experience
Five (5) years of related IT experience demonstrating a progression of increasing responsibility including experience supporting complex software platforms in a Linux environment

SAS Certified Platform Administrator
Preferred Experience
Experience deploying and managing an enterprise SAS environment
Experience supporting research or other computationally intensive environments
Experience with data ETL, Big Data, data streams, and databases (relational and non-relational)
Previous experience working in higher education
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise deploying and supporting complex
scientific platforms, tools, and software (examples include SAS, R,
Python, Hadoop, SQL, NoSQL, Tensorflow, RStudio, and Jupyter
Notebook)
- Demonstrated expertise designing computing environments that
support scientific platforms, tools, and software for researchers
and data scientists
- Demonstrated expertise administering and securing enterprise
Linux servers
- Demonstrated expertise with scripting and automation
technologies
- Able to analyze, evaluate, and implement complex IT systems,
along with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex
problems
- Able to anticipate problems and proactively develop appropriate
solutions
- Able to appropriately assess and communicate risks, benefits,
and alternatives
- Able to contribute to building data models for analytical
purposes
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies,
technology trends, and industry best practices for areas of
responsibility
- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting
assigned deadlines
- Able to interface appropriately and professionally with
students, faculty, staff, and grant sponsors
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal, initiative,
teamwork, problem solving, organization, communication (verbal and
written), time management, project management, relationship
building, and presentation skills, along with an ability to
translate between technical and functional teams
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated
with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
