Spring Hill College, a Jesuit, Catholic, liberal arts college, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Division of Education starting in August 2021. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Requirements: Candidates must hold a terminal degree in Elementary Education (preferred) or a terminal degree in Education AND 30 hours of graduate-level courses in Elementary Education (required). A minimum of three years of K-6 teaching experience is also required. Candidates lacking those minimum requirements will be screened out of the job application process. The candidate must exhibit potential for teaching excellence, knowledge of emerging trends in the field of Elementary Education curriculum development, and a willingness to support the Jesuit mission (http://www.shc.edu).

Preferred Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of and experience with the CAEP accreditation process and familiarity with programming of the Alabama State Department of Education, such as ARI, AMSTI, and Alabama Continuous Improvement in Educator Preparation standards for Elementary Education programs will be a plus for hire consideration.

Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will be able to do the following: teach four classes per semester; serve as an advisor to Elementary Education students; take on administrative tasks if experiences align (course release or overload provided, if appropriate); recommend school sites for clinical experiences; support building PDS relationships with community partners; mentor students completing edTPA; provide service to the division and college; and engage in discipline-related scholarship. Faculty may be required to teach evening classes as well as online and hybrid courses.
