Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Provost and Vice President for
Academic Affairs, the Executive Director acts as the senior
administrative officer of the School of Continuing and Professional
Studies. The Executive Director will lead significant expansion of
online graduate certificate programs while increasing and
diversifying the School's successful slate of noncredit courses,
camps, and conferences. The Executive Director will actively
develop partnerships with corporations, nonprofits, and businesses
and will creatively engage and serve university alumni through the
delivery of innovative and responsive educational programs.
This position requires an innovative leader experienced with the
many forms of technology-enhanced education and the infrastructure
and business models that continuing and professional programs
require. Working in collaboration with faculty and university
leadership, the successful candidate will help define the role of
continuing and professional learning for the future of the
university. In doing so, the successful candidate will meet market
demands, improve academic quality, and grow enrollment of Georgia
College's post baccalaureate and graduate certificate programs.
Program Development - 30
The Executive Director will lead significant expansion of online
graduate certificate programs while increasing and diversifying the
School's successful slate of noncredit courses, camps, and
conferences. The Executive Director will actively develop
partnerships with corporations, nonprofits, and businesses and will
creatively engage and serve university alumni through the delivery
of innovative and responsive educational programs.
Program Development (Continued) - 30
The Executive Director will work closely with the deans and other
top academic leaders in the strategic planning, budgeting,
branding, marketing, and delivery of relevant and responsive
programing to external constituencies. The Executive Director will
help define support models for faculty and enhance instructional
design and course development expertise for online certificate
programs; coordinate the development and delivery of educational
services and the processes necessary to support new and existing
programs; leverage knowledge of marketing, research, and trends to
identify opportunities and plan effective marketing and branding
strategies for continuing and professional programs; and oversee
budgeting and recruitment activities in support of ambitious
enrollment goals and outreach. As needed, the Executive Director
will establish external relationships with learning support
resources such as OPMs, vendors, and consultants.
Supervision - 40
In addition to shaping and leading the university's continuing and
professional education initiatives, the Executive Director will
supervise community outreach programs within Continuing and
Professional Education, Academic Outreach, Communities In Schools,
and Afterschool Achievement (YES and High Achiever programs);
oversee prestigious historic house museums including Georgia's Old
Governor's Mansion, Andalusia-the home of author Flannery O'Connor,
and the Sallie Ellis Davis House; and ensure excellent event
technology service to the campus community by the Department of
Production Services.
Educational Requirements
Doctorate from a regionally accredited university required
Other Required Qualifications
Knowledge of the many forms of technology-enhanced education and
the infrastructure and business models that online programs
require
Experience designing, developing, and delivering high-quality
online credit programs that have superior learner services,
facilitate student engagement, and exceed learner value
Significant teaching experience with in-person and online
modalities
Required Experience
Five or more years of higher education administrative experience
and progressive responsibility related to all parts of the creation
of continuing and professional development programs
Preferred Experience
Eight or more years of higher education administrative experience
and progressive responsibility related to all parts of the creation
of continuing and professional development programs
A track record of entrepreneurial growth in programs developed,
students served, and revenue generated
Evidence of innovation and creativity
A collaborative nature with a track record of building faculty
trust and developing strong working relationships
Experience managing state funds, attracting grant funding, and
generating sales and services revenue
Experience in financial and enrollment modeling
Track record of clearly defining goals and accomplishing
priorities
Successful marketing experience
ABILITIES
Experience designing, developing, and delivering high-quality
online credit programs that have superior learner services,
facilitate student engagement, and exceed learner value
Experience managing state funds, attracting grant funding, and
generating sales and services revenue
Experience in financial and enrollment modeling
Experience in program administration, personnel supervision and
motivation, and fiscal management, preferably in a college
setting
A track record of entrepreneurial growth in programs developed,
students served, and revenue generated
Significant teaching experience with in-person and online

A collaborative nature with a track record of building faculty
trust and developing strong working relationships
Successful marketing experience
KNOWLEDGE

Excellent and effective interpersonal, verbal communication, and
writing skills
