Black Hawk College seeks a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Music (Instrumental and Jazz Studies) beginning in August 2021 (Fall semester).
M.A. or M.S. or M.M. in music is required; experience in directing choral or instrumental ensembles may be required depending on the position opening. Must possess demonstrated oral English proficiency for classroom instruction.
Instructor will be responsible for directing the Black Hawk College Jazz Ensembles. Instructor will teach courses in music theory, electronic music and applied lessons in classical and jazz styles. Additional responsibilities may include teaching aural skills, class piano, music appreciation and other courses as deemed necessary by the department.
Other responsibilities include recruitment, assessment, and curriculum development. The candidate will demonstrate expertise in leading jazz ensembles in a variety of styles. The candidate must also demonstrate strong technical and musical skills in instrumental performance as well as a high degree of piano proficiency. Classroom teaching experience required. A portfolio that demonstrates broad expertise in music technology is desired.
