Upper Iowa University seeks an innovative, decisive, collegial and experienced leader to serve as Dean of the School of Business and Professional Studies. The Dean will work in collaboration with the faculty, other school deans, and the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs to lead, inspire and elevate the School of Business to its next level of growth, innovation and distinction.
The School of Business and Professional Studies includes the business majors, health services administration major, information and systems technology majors, the RN-BSN program, and the master’s programs of Business Administration and Sports Administration. All programs are offered online; some majors are offered at the Fayette campus in a traditional classroom and at institutional centers as hybrid (face-to-face with online components).
The Dean of the School of Business and Professional Studies reports to the Vice-President of Academic and Student Affairs and collaborates with deans of the other schools. The Dean is responsible for the quality of academic programs, the faculty and staff within the school, building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, strengthening the visibility of programs, and aligning the priorities of the school with the university. The Dean is a visionary leader for the School.
Strategic priorities for the new Dean include articulating a vision that will make the School the gold standard for business education and developing a data driven plan to achieve it; introducing academic programs that address the needs of students and the marketplace and add to the school¹s distinctiveness; supporting and developing the faculty through strategic hires and nurturing the strong spirit of collegiality and shared purpose that already exists; collaborating with the business community to develop internships and career opportunities and secure financial resources; advocating for the school within the university and externally; growing enrollment; and modeling and advancing the University¹s strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and student success.
