Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost

The President of Kean University invites applications and nominations for Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost.

Kean, a world-class university with campuses across the state of New Jersey and around the globe, seeks an experienced and visionary chief academic officer who puts students first in advancing a comprehensive university. Kean’s next Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs will work closely with University President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D., to continue focusing on access and opportunity for Kean’s diverse student body while charting a course of excellence that leads Kean on a path to become the next great research university in the state.

Founded in 1855 as the first public post-secondary institution in New Jersey, Kean University now has more than 16,000 students enrolled in 50 undergraduate programs and more than 70 graduate degree and certificate options. It is the fourth-largest public university in New Jersey. Kean’s main campus is in Union, New Jersey, with additional locations at Kean Ocean in Toms River and Manahawkin, New Jersey; Kean Skylands in Morris County, New Jersey; and Wenzhou-Kean University in Wenzhou, China.

The University is in the midst of an exciting period of positive change and momentum. The new senior vice president will help to foster that growth and effectively contribute to addressing the University’s priorities of equity and excellence as it moves toward obtaining R2 status as a research university in the Carnegie classification system within the next three to five years.

The ideal candidate will be a curious, creative and collaborative academic leader with deep experience in the classroom, a record of extensive managerial oversight, and a scholarly portfolio that earned tenure and associate professor rank. The candidate will show a commitment to a culture of frequent, transparent and honest communication as well as an inclusive, collaborative, and positive approach to decision-making. Hands-on experience in overseeing, promoting, and assessing faculty teaching, research, advising, and service is essential. The candidate must show a strong commitment to student success and equity across the institution, both for students and faculty.
