Position Summary:

The Medical Program Assistant (MPA) position provides direct administrative support to approximately 115 faculty, research and administrative support staff of General Internal Medicine (GIM) Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM), University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). GIM is the largest Division in the Department of Medicine, with physicians who practice in UW Health Clinics throughout the Madison area, in addition to performing research and teaching responsibilities.

This position requires an individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, careful attention to detail and the capability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team environment. The incumbent must possess the ability to maintain a professional manner at all times and perform advanced and confidential administrative duties to meet faculty, Division and Departmental goals.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Associate Degree preferred

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum 2 years administrative experience required, 5 years preferred.
Experience in a healthcare or academic setting is preferred.

- Professional level and highly efficient use of Microsoft Office and Excel is required.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English grammar, spelling, punctuation, including excellent proofing skills required
- Experience in maintaining, using, and developing computerized data bases preferred.
- Experience in planning and coordination of meetings, conferences and/or seminars is preferred.
- UW experience preferred

Additional Information:

Ideal candidate will demonstrate professional communication, workplace sensitivity, confidentiality and diplomacy are essential. The successful candidate will have a high level of reliability, initiative, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The position requires the incumbent to be highly adept with technology, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, video conferencing and the ability to skillfully and independently perform internet research.
