Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 503053), to commence as soon as possible for three years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, with at least 5 years’ research experience in viral epidemiology, medical microbiology, emerging infectious diseases (including coronaviruses), novel virus discovery, bioinformatics analyses, cellular and viral cultures, primary cell line development, molecular cloning, immunofluorescence assay, western blot assay, wild animal autopsy and animal studies. They should also be qualified to work in biosafety level 3 laboratory for tissue culture and animal experiments, with good communication skills in English and Chinese (including both Cantonese and Mandarin). Prior experience in undergraduate and postgraduate student supervision and drafting of grant proposal would be an advantage. The appointee is expected to work on research projects in the areas of emerging infectious diseases.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
