Position Summary:
The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Project Director will report to the Director of the Women's Center and will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive risk reduction and violence prevention programs and advocacy services targeted toward the entire university community, with particular emphasis on underserved student populations, including Latinx, Native American, international, and LGBTQIA+ students, and students with disabilities. The OVW Project Director will plan, coordinate, and deliver campus domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking prevention programs with education initiatives developed for faculty, staff, and students. The OVW Project Director will supervise a team of campus and community responders to develop culturally-responsive violence prevention programming and support services for the campus community. The OVW Project Director will also co-facilitate and develop nationally recognized student bystander intervention programs that empower individual action and encourage peer accountability within underserved communities. The OVW Project Director will seek additional grant funding as needed, and will supervise all grant funded programs and activities. The OVW Project Director will work collaboratively with campus law enforcement personnel, the University of Idaho's Legal Aid Clinic, Student Affairs staff, staff in the Equity & Diversity Unit, and with community partners such as Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse, the Moscow Police Department, the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence, and the Stalking Prevention Awareness & Resource Center (SPARC).
The OVW Project Director will serve as a member of the Women's Center professional staff and participate in other Equity & Diversity Unit projects and programs. The OVW Project Director will focus their efforts on developing and implementing comprehensive, socioculturally relevant, and in-depth sexual violence prevention and awareness programming that engages the University of Idaho community in varied teaching methods and pedagogies, culturally-responsive outreach strategies, and comprehensive approaches that seek to create lasting change for individuals, groups, communities, and society. The OVW Project Director will be trained and prepared to receive confidential disclosures of sexual assault and relationship violence, including from members of underserved and diverse student populations. The OVW Project Director will direct individuals who disclose sexual assault-related experiences to appropriate campus or community resources, and serve as an advocate and ally for those who choose to engage with the University's reporting system. The OVW Project Director will provide individual care and concern with special consideration for students from underserved communities who experience sexual misconduct and other unwanted behaviors.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies; Sociology; Psychology, or related.
• Experience with computer operation and software programs; program planning and implementation; designing and conducting training programs; and providing liaison with customer/provider groups.
• Experience developing, recommending, and evaluating program procedures and recommending changes; developing technical written materials such as policies, technical manuals, or rules/regulations; gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts; writing concise reports.
• Experience working in or with partners in public health, health promotion, prevention, and health equity. Familiarity with social change models/principles and student development theories/practice. Experience in developing outreach efforts through a framework of cultural humility and awareness of intersectionality of identities.
• Experience applying leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing the health and wellness needs of emerging adults, especially college students.
• Experience in crisis intervention, sexual assault advocacy, and advocacy for individuals who have experienced trauma and victimization; experience with staff development and supervisory practices.
• At least three years of experience designing, implementing, and assessing specialized violence prevention education programs.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in related field.
• Knowledge of law enforcement criminal justice investigation methods and functions.
• Familiarity with legislation and regulatory compliance related to sexual harassment and violence, including knowledge of Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, the federal Violence Against Women Act, Campus SaVE, the Clery Act, etc.
• Project management and assessment, including proficiency with budget management.
• Knowledge of and creative experience with peer education models, teaching, marketing, and program design and evaluation.
• Previous experience advising student organizations/peer education groups.
• Experience supervising/coordinating volunteers, interns, and/or peer educators.
• Valid driver’s license.
