The University of West Florida, located in Pensacola, Florida, invites applications for the full-time position of Director, Housing and Residence Life, Position #106040.

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director for Housing and Residence Life serves as the chief housing/residence life officer for the University of West Florida providing leadership and strategic planning, ensuring the department meets both the university and student needs in a dynamic environment. The Director will establish a strategic direction, aligned with retention and persistence for Housing and Residential Life that supports the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs and UWF’s strategic goals. The Director will anticipate, develop, and implement best practices that are responsive to trends regarding student issues, programming, and administrative operations for housing and residence life. The Director will develop a residential curriculum built on best practices for residence life programs that bring value and impact to student retention, engagement, facility management, student and staff employee training and development. The Director will manage a complex operating budget that includes debt service obligations and bond requirements for cyclical repair and replacement programs.

Minimum qualifications include: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience.

Preferred qualifications include: Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services or an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience. Experience developing and sustaining living learning communities. Experience with budget planning, forecasting (assignments and occupancy projections) and fiscal management of a complex operating budgeting that includes debt service. Experience with management, supervision, and development of professional staff. Experience with emergency response and crisis management. Experience with strategic and master planning. Experience with assessment and development of learning outcomes. Experience working with a diverse student population. Experience developing partnerships, and collaborating with campus faculty and staff. Experience with new construction and major capital projects. Experience with housing software, preferably RMS. Experience with facilities maintenance and custodial services for Residential Housing. Experience with conference Housing. Knowledge of residential living, student development theory, programming philosophy, and assessment. Ability to supervise, motivate, and inspire staff at all levels of the organization.
