Located in Gaffney, SC, in the Piedmont region of the state, Limestone University seeks a highly skilled, technically experienced, and strategically oriented leader to serve as Director of Information Technology. 

Limestone has been a pioneer in providing access to higher education. Founded in 1845 as South Carolina’s first women’s college, Limestone is the third-oldest higher education institution in the state.  In the 1900’s Limestone began admitting men as commuting students and became fully coeducational in the 1960’s.  Today the University is an accredited, independent, co-educational, residential, four-year liberal arts institution, and a non-denominational Christian university.  With approximately 3,000 students, Limestone is one of the three largest private accredited institutions in South Carolina. The University’s main campus in Gaffney is within an hour’s drive of the Greenville/Spartanburg and Charlotte metropolitan areas. Limestone established The Virtual Campus in 1996 and became a leader in offering college classes via the Internet. The off-campus and Internet programs became known as the Online & Evening Program which changed to “hybrid” classes in 1996.  Today there are five Online and Evening sites available, as well as Internet programs serving over 1000 students per semester. Its online program makes the University truly a worldwide institution. 

 The Director of Information Technology will be responsible for the academic and administrative computer services, network services, intranet and internet web services, and telecommunications of the University.  Areas of oversight include computer hardware, software, administrative office services, computer labs, library, classrooms for both on and off campus locations, web and telecommunications hardware and software.  The Director of IT will work closely with all university leadership as the administrator responsible for providing the strategic technical vision and leadership to develop and implement information technology initiatives. In addition to the strategic responsibilities, the Director will also be responsible for all operational aspects of the University’s information technology and systems. This position will direct the planning and implementation of IT systems in support of business operations to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development. This position will also support and facilitate learning and research related computing. Functional areas reporting directly to the Director of Information Technology include: Director of Network Services, Director of Data Services, and Director of Computer Services, and approximately ten permanent employees.

The Director of Information Technology reports directly to the Vice President for Finance, Operations & Administration. Other positions reporting to the Vice President for Finance & Administration include: Director of Finance, Director of Auxiliary Services, Director of Human Resources, Director of Maintenance, Director of E-Sports, Bookstore/Procurement Manager, Mail Services Manager, and New Facilities Project Manager.    

The successful candidate will have proven experience, preferably in higher education, in IT network, database and computer services planning, organization, and development, along with excellent understanding and demonstrable experience in providing IT support to learning and research processes. This effective communicator will possess the skills that will enable her/him to address and communicate the challenges and opportunities that exist in the information technology area. This person will have a strong creative energy and a proven collaborative record of leadership and operational experience to effectively support team building and relationships across organizational lines. A degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a closely related field is preferred; a graduate degree is a plus. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes competitive base salary and benefits.
