The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science (SES) at Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biomedical Engineering starting as early as August 16, 2021. The position is anticipated to be filled at the assistant professor level but candidates with a track record of success in scholarship, funded research, teaching and mentoring will be given consideration at the associate or full professor rank. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline with significant post-doctoral experience. Ideal candidates will perform multidisciplinary research that bridges the life sciences and biomedical engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in bioimaging, computational modeling, and neural engineering. Researchers with applications in the central nervous, cardiovascular or pulmonary systems, as well as cancer, are especially encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will have the potential to develop and/or maintain a strong externally funded, globally recognized research program at Stevens, to participate in the teaching mission of the university, and to be an active member of the intellectual community. An interest and commitment to excellence in both graduate and undergraduate education, and mentoring students of all backgrounds is essential.

Stevens Institute of Technology is a private university located in Hoboken, New Jersey. The 55-acre campus is on the Hudson River across from midtown Manhattan within a few minutes from NYC via public transportation. Stevens' exciting location offers unlimited opportunities for collaboration with nearby universities, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and major corporate research laboratories. The Schaefer School of Engineering and Science is the largest school among four schools at Stevens and has support facilities that include electron and confocal microscopy, mass spectrometry, NMR and other analytical instrumentation as well as a small animal vivarium. Stevens is a student-centric research university with a major initiative in healthcare research. The Biomedical Engineering program is central to this initiative. Biomedical Engineering has an ABET-accredited undergraduate program and masters and doctoral level graduate programs, with approximately 300 students in total. The program is poised for significant growth at all levels of education and research.
