Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Art & Art History is seeking applicants for a
full-time Lecturer and Technician in Ceramics. The typical work
load assignment for this lecturer position is a 2/2 course load
which includes Ceramics Wheel 1 and 2, Handbuilding and 3D
Foundations. This position may, at times, be assigned to teach
advanced Ceramics, Glaze Technology and beginning level Sculpture
courses. The candidate is expected to have an understanding of
interdisciplinary trends in contemporary ceramics. In addition to
teaching responsibilities, the person in this position will manage
a comprehensive ceramics studio including budget and purchasing,
equipment & kiln firing/maintenance/safety and coordination of
work-study students.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters
and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related
discipline.
Department Preferred Education, Skills and Training
Experience
MFA is preferred. Experience in glaze/materials, kiln building,
mold making and ceramic and digital fabrication design are valued.
While Lecturers are not evaluated on research practice, a record of
studio accomplishment and active research agenda is highly valued.

About the College and Department
The Department of Art & Art History is one of five units housed
in the College of Arts + Architecture, which includes Dance, Music,
Theatre, and the School of Architecture. The Department is
accredited by NASAD, consists of 30 full-time faculty and 350 art
students. The Department offers a BFA in 9 studio concentration
areas; Art Education, Ceramics, Digital Media, Fibers,
Illustration, Painting, Print Media, Photography, Sculpture, and
the BFA in Graphic Design. In addition to the BFA degrees, it
offers a BA in Art History, BA in Art and a minor in Art History.
