The Communication Department within the College of Arts & Letters at The University of Tampa seeks a dynamic colleague with diverse expertise for a Visiting Professor of Instruction for Speech Studies/MA Professional Communication position beginning August 2021.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students.  The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area.  UT reflects this vibrancy; with 20 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 229 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and 140 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News & World Report.

This position teaches four classes (16 credit hours) per semester. There is an expectation the line will be renewed pending meeting enrollment targets. The ideal candidate is an excellent teacher who holds a PhD/terminal degree with teaching/research interests related to speech communication studies and professional communication.

Qualified applicants with interests in relevant sub-specialties are encouraged to apply (e.g. business communication, workplace leadership, strategic and organizational communication; also but not limited to gender, family, group, and interpersonal). The faculty member will contribute to existing courses in the undergraduate degree in Communication and Speech Studies and the graduate program in Professional Communication. Ideal candidates demonstrate excellence in teaching with proven experience engaging students in learning by doing, and on-campus engagement. Professors of instruction are teacher-scholars informed by their area of study when teaching and working with students.

This colleague will be joining faculty in expanding areas of communication programming across the University and will be relied upon to support growth and momentum. This position is in Tampa, FL and all courses are designed for face-to-face delivery. Interviewing will take place via committee and over Zoom. Salary is competitive and benefits are competitive.
