Assistant Director, Center for Advising & Academic Services

Marist College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, for the Center for Advising & Academic Services. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Advising and Academic Services, the Assistant Director provides administrative support and coordination for student advising services, and helps to execute policies and programs that enforce the academic standards at Marist College.

The role of the Assistant Director in the Center for Advising & Academic Services (CAAS) is critical in the retention and academic development of students. They serve as the point of contact for students on high risk academic probation, and assist with undergraduate academic review, and withdrawals from the College. Additionally, they coordinate advisor assignments, and assist in academic exceptions and in maintaining the department social media presence.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.

Experience with Banner processing, and Microsoft Word suite, including Outlook required.

3 to 5 years experience in academic advising, academic support services, or related field required.

Strong interpersonal communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work independently, and professionally required.

Demonstrated skill utilizing social media and other technologies required.

Essential Functions:

  • Advise students on academic probation, including academically reinstated students, and those brought about through the Office’s early alert system and/or referred by faculty and staff
  • Utilize the Banner system to coordinate and track advisor assignments for all undergraduate students
  • Assist with the College's academic review process, and in approving academic exceptions and/or deadlines
  • Organize and implement academic skill development workshops for students, faculty, and staff
  • Research and manage departmental best practices within social media, web and print information
  • Assist in conducting exit interviews for official withdrawals and leave of absences for the College
  • Assist in day-to-day department operations in the absence of Director
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
