Position Overview:

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.

Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teaching four classes per semester (fall and spring) that totals 24 credits. The candidate will be expected to work on departmental, college and university committees, participate in professional activities, and actively pursue a substantive agenda for scholarly/creative work. The candidate will be expected to work with student media. UCO is a metropolitan university; therefore, developing and maintaining communications industry connections to enhance teaching and provide opportunities for students is expected.

Position Summary:

This position calls for teaching at the undergraduate level. The ideal candidate will have experience in broadcasting and audio/visual production with an emphasis on ENG camera and video editing instruction, as well as expertise in digital/online media. Ideal candidates will have experience in teaching introductory television production, media production, and digital/social communication. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of esports production.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.

A Masters in Mass Communication or appropriate field required. A minimum of 3 years full-time professional broadcast or electronic media experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in the following areas: introduction to television production, media production, and video news. The candidate should be prepared at the time of the interview to screen recent examples of their news and/or production work.

Experience Preferred:

A PhD or terminal degree preferred.
