Position Summary:

The School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Financial Shared Services unit provides complex financial services to multiple academic department chairs, faculty, and staff. Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Finance, the Dean's Office Financial Specialist assists the departments by completing financial transactions, assisting with post-award reporting, and supporting the Associate Director in other areas as needed while maintaining the highest standard of customer service and compliance with UW System policies and procedures.

This entry-level position provides various financial services and acts as a liaison between the Dean's Office of Fiscal Affairs and SMPH departments. The Dean's Office Financial Specialist will prepare, monitor, and audit expenditures in an accurate and timely manner.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

No Degree Required. Associate's Degree or higher in business, finance, ore related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Previous Experience in these areas is preferred but not required:
- One or more years of general financial experience
- Knowledge or ability to learn State and University purchasing rules, policy, and applications including travel policies and procedures

Additional Information:

Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software, particularly Excel and Word
- Ability to create spreadsheets and reports as well as access, enter and edit program data and to use other software packages to record, analyze and summarize data
- Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and requirements.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
