Bachelor’s degree in higher education administration, organizational management, or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred. Five years of experience in strategic planning (or strategic communication), project management, business administration, management or leadership role within higher education including oversight of facilities, personnel, and operational processes. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Chiefly responsible for the development, strategy, and advancement of innovation to enhance operational effectiveness within the College of Criminal Justice.

Primary Responsibilities

Serves on the College of Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Team as the head of Strategy and Development. Assists in the development and implementation of strategic plans for the College of Criminal Justice and Criminal Justice Center as well as integration of the two and synthesis with institution-wide strategic plans. Leads projects that require cross-functional engagement from ideation through implementation. Serves as lead on partnership agreements with external entities. Assists in professional development at all levels within the college and center, including college and center leadership. Serves on committees as requested. Works closely with the Dean/Director of Criminal Justice College & Center and directors of the various centers and institutes that comprise the Criminal Justice Center. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Solid visioning skills, including an understanding of both institutional and nation-wide trends and best practices. Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex information to diverse employees at different levels with varying degrees of operational knowledge. Knowledge of and experience with strategic planning. Ability to think critically to integrate complex operational, practical, financial, and pedagogical considerations. Demonstrated ability to coordinate, facilitate, and chair meetings for the purpose of resolving differences and working toward institutional goals. Excellent organizational skills in identifying and prioritizing work activities. Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment. Demonstrable success in leveraging the use of technology. Experienced in demonstrating the ability to lead employees through change.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority ( CSA ).
