Job Description Summary

Responsible for the development of a minimum standard of care for Prince George’s Community College student athletes and the smooth operation of all athletic and intramurals events including prevention, examine, and treat athletes’ injuries. Work with team doctors to provide physical therapy for athletes who are recovering from injuries and to show athletes how to build their strength and avoid further injury.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Maryland State Licensed Certified Athletic Trainer required
  2. Four to five years of related experience in a specialized skill or a combination of relevant higher education and experience. Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferred
  3. Must maintain the continuing education necessary to remain a licensed (state) and certified athletic trainer in good standing

  1. Prevention of athletic injuries and the recuperation and rehabilitation following illness/injury of all athletes. With the aim of fielding a healthy squad of players for pre-season, regular season and post season practices and matches.
  2. Coordinate and Implement the Injury and Treatment Protocols Written and signed by the Supervising Physician
  3. Organize and implement the flexibility and strength training sessions. As well as develop the off­ season fitness program.
  4. Prepare the athletes for each practice and game by exercising, preventive taping and bandaging techniques.
  5. Maintains and monitors all records relating to injuries of athletes.
  6. Assists the Athletics Director with compliance of National Junior College Athletic Association ( NJCAA ) and Maryland Junior College Conference (MD JUCO ) policies, procedures and practices.
  7. Coordinates team physicals and CPR certification process for all coaches and staff once per year.
  8. Coordinates with the Health Education Center training programs for coaching staff on pertinent health issues.
  9. Responsible for covering all practices and home contests during the pre-season, regular season and post-season.
  10. Recommends purchase requests for needed equipment based on inventory evaluation.
  11. Responsible for ordering, upkeep and inventory control of all sports medicine supplies for use during the pre-season, regular season, and post-season.
  12. Responsible for upkeep and inventory control of all Intercollegiate Athletic equipment. Including inspection, cleanliness, and safety of the equipment in the weight room.
  13. Responsible for overall efficient operation of the weight room.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned

  1. Must have a valid driver’s license without any restrictions that would prohibit college insurance coverage.
  2. Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
