Job Summary

This is a two-year limited-term appointment. Continuation of employment will be contingent upon the availability of funding.
Reporting to the Director of the EAGLES program, the EAGLES Instruction Coordinator develops, implements, and evaluates student-focused instruction and services for the Education to Accomplish Growth in Life Experiences for Success ( EAGLES ) program.
The EAGLES Instruction Coordinator will be responsible for instructing students with intellectual disabilities. This person will also coordinate, evaluate, and implement the independent living program for all students in the EAGLES program.

Essential Functions

1. Teach-Develop and implement innovative instructional coursework with accompanying content and evaluating materials for EAGLES -specific courses and individual students based on individual needs, maintain grading system to demonstrate performance.
2. Coordinates instruction for targeted groups who collaborate with the EAGLES program in the area of independent living and develops and implements evidence-based training to educate and prepare those to instruct the EAGLES and collect data on progress in the area of independent living: i.e., grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, medical needs/doctor appointments/medication refills, transportation, managing a budget with money earned from employment.
3. Meets with EAGLES students regularly to define needs and advise students using person-centered planning techniques, including developing comprehensive LIFT Plans and including evaluation and assessment scores to track and demonstrate progress across the five domains of the program for a designated cohort.
4. Improves, develops, and conducts an independent living program for all EAGLES students who live both on and off-campus, including creating individualized task analyses, direct instruction, incidental teaching, dorm checks, and evaluates progress on independent living skills gained for EAGLES students, to include program design, delivery, evaluation, individualization, and coordination. Works with the program director to maintain MOUs with housing to best meet the needs of the students.
5. Collaborates with Auburn community, AU faculty, and staff for EAGLES program activities to help support EAGLES through all aspects of the program to help develop and maintain database and website-related to a specific action, project or service for record-keeping and program enhancements, student performance, and communication between students, families, staff, and faculty.
6. Plans and implements- the day-to-day activities for assigned students and addresses students’ needs as they arise, helps students problem-solve when conflict arises or emergencies occur.
7. Assists in developing marketing plans and publicity materials for distribution to the targeted audience and assisting in planning and implementing EAGLES Program events.
8. Assist with other program duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of teaching and developing a transition program for students with intellectual disabilities.
• Knowledge in special education policies, laws, and current research trends in transition and inclusive higher education programs.

Minimum Technology Skills

Minimum License and Certifications

Certificate in special education from an accredited institution in Special Education or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with job coaching; assistive technology; proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite; and excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; and knowledge of AU’s policies and procedures.

Experience in the design, implementation, devilry, and management of educational programs/services or independent living.
