The University of Florida (UF) is seeking a talented individual to lead the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). The Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will be a key member of the Dean’s executive leadership team with oversight for all diversity, equity and inclusion activities, which support Veterinary Medicine students, graduate students, house officers, fellows, and faculty and staff members of the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position also serves as the community liaison for the College’s outward facing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

The Assistant Dean will guide and lead the College in efforts to create an environment that values and demonstrates its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and will create and implement a strategic diversity plan for the College of Veterinary Medicine that is consistent with the University of Florida’s strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will also actively work to create and advance a faculty, house officer, staff and student body that is representative of the diverse state of Florida. Understanding that this critical work is the responsibility of everyone at the College, this position will guide the College community in expanding and extending the values of diversity, inclusion, and equity through teaching, scholarship, and broad engagement of students, house officers, faculty, and staff, as well as the broader community.

The Assistant Dean will work collaboratively with other health science college’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and will serve as a college diversity liaison at the university and health science center level. Building on the extensive accomplishments of the College’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Assistant Dean will lead the College, in collaboration with students, house officers, staff, faculty, leaders, and departments, in examination of current practices, policies, procedures, programs, structures, and college climate. The primary goal of this position is to develop a comprehensive, college-wide diversity, inclusion and equity strategic plan and on-going assessment to create and sustain a vibrant learning and working environment that is welcoming and supportive of all, as well as a plan that strives to eradicate equity gaps in student participation and achievement.

In addition to administrative duties (0.5 FTE), the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is expected to participate as a UF faculty member (0.5 FTE) with roles of teaching and scholarship based on the selected candidate’s discipline. Applicants or nominees should be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in a non-tenure-track position. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

The Assistant Dean must possess a doctoral degree.
