TheStudent Accountsdepartment at St. Catherine University invites applications for anAccounting Clerkposition. This is a regular, full-time position.

The Student Accounts department provides accurate and timely service to our students, faculty and staff, by handling tuition, billing, and any other student fees, payments, or credits efficiently. At the current time, this position is both in the office and remote. Upon our return to campus, it will transition back to the office full time.
Responsibilities:


  • Welcome callers and visitors warmly as the first point of contact for the Student Accounts office
  • Answer phone calls and emails promptly, communicating respectively and building relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities
  • Attend new student orientation, presentations, and related events
  • Communicate with students via email and text to assist with registration throughout the semester
  • Process and maintain past due tuition accounts, via phone, email and letter notification
  • Maintain and monitor collection/debt, and payment plan holds
  • Place past due accounts with 1st placement collection agency, 2nd placement agency, etc.
  • Process collection agency requests (payment history, initial disclosures, statements, breakdown of balance owed, and legal authorizations).
  • Ensure on-line and other communications convey compliant information

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree in business administration
  • Two years of accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience working with collection agencies
  • Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Privacy Act, Bankruptcy (Ch. 7 & 13) laws and effective collection techniques
